1. Choose a style you love

It’s important to choose a theme or style you want to work with. Try to keep a common general décor look throughout your house and let it flow through to your bathroom. Think colour schemes, contemporary or farmhouse, darks or lights, and overall functionality. Consider whether you want to incorporate candles, canisters, soap dispensers and plants in your space and try to keep within your theme when making purchases. Remember not to dismiss ornaments if they fit in with the general feel and vibe!

2. Add new towels

Throw away any older, frayed or dated coloured towels that can bring the daggy factor up big time. Invest in some soft new towels, hand towels and a bathmat in either strong and bold shades, or crisp whites but remember your whites will need to be kept white! Liven up the room and use towels to lift an otherwise neutral space, remembering you can bring “you” and your unique taste to your bathroom using these simple pieces.

3. Try flowers, pots and plants

The bathroom can be the ideal environment for plants to thrive and grow. As this space is often humid and damp, you have a huge choice of indoor plants to choose from. Make sure they have access to filtered light and grab some stunning pots to help keep them happy. You may opt for sharp whites or again, throw in some pops of colour to bring out your own style.

4. Keep things relatively simple

When it comes to choosing pieces for your bathroom space, remember the room isn’t usually overly large and incorporating too many bits and bobs can easily and quickly overcrowd the space you have. Keep trinkets and numbers of items low (even just one can be enough!) and remember that unless it serves a specific function, it’s probably not necessary. Think soap dispenser and tumbler for your toothbrush, and perhaps a striking large seashell and pot for your bench space. That’s probably all you’ll need and the colours you choose will be your accent.

5. Feature stools and bathmats

If there’s adequate space to cater, consider a little feature stool sitting just so, by your bath. Pop on a hot cup of tea and a candle, and soak your cares away! Functionality is key so a large bathmat serving as a make-shift rug and also add another element of colour or texture to the room if your walls are smooth / untextured. If you’re tight on space, a smaller but round rug can add an equally striking element of style to your bathroom.

So there it is, some very simple, effective and generally inexpensive ways to revamp your bathroom into a new and vibrant space!
