Cooking Ideas With Home School Kids

With so many kids in and out of home schooling, we’ve come up with a few ideas to get great meals into them to keep their minds ticking. Check out some of our cooking ideas with home school kids and get the whole family involved!

Easy Pizza

It might be messy and not always go as planned but the rewards are so worth the effort. It will be much easier to buy the pizza base yourself and use either a pizza tray or pizza oven. Let the kids pick their own toppings and create their own individual masterpiece.

The simplest of pizzas will only need the basics like pizza sauce, grated cheese, pineapple (if you’re that way inclined) and some shaved ham. Throw it on as you wish and your prep is done! Use your pizza oven to cook to your liking and serve up for a great lunch time snack.

Cutest Cupcakes

It’s well known globally that most kids love a good old fashioned cupcake. Baking easy vanilla cupcakes for an instant hit of energy is super simple. Using this simple list of ingredients, follow these easy steps to create that well known whoft of home cooking through your home. The best part is the kids can spend time creating decorations out of icing sheets for the top. Or they can whip up their own icing with food colouring for all sorts of fun effects.

110g softened butter
100gm caster sugar
2 large eggs
Half teaspoon vanilla extract
110g self raising flour

Heat the oven to 160 degrees celsius for a fan forced oven and line a 12 cupcake tray with patty pans. Next you will need to whisk the butter and sugar together and add eggs one at a time. Just add the vanilla and flour and combine before serving out into the cupcake tray. Then bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown and leave to cool before enjoying!

Taco Time

Making tacos is always a fun family favourite and is a great easy go-to for lunches. They packed with flavour and you can pretty much use whatever ingredients you happen to have in the fridge at the time. Some simple staples you might want to use could include beef or chicken, grated cheese, shredded lettuce and chopped tomato to start. If you want to get fancy you could also consider using sliced salami, capsicum, chopped onions or spinach leaves too.

When you next head down to your supermarket, remember to pick up some hard or soft taco shells which are often low in price. Tacos can be as complex or as simple as you like. Cooking up some seasoned mince beef or shredding chicken from a supermarket BBQ chicken is quick and easy. Then you simply chop, mix or grind your ingredients  into separate bowls and let the kids loose on lunch.
